CHATHAM APARTMENT,FORMALLY CANDLER HOSPITAL

It is unbelieveable what is going on.I ran into a old lady last night at Chatham Apartment that was in the back hall of the building near the laundry room door. She told me that she wanted to know if the back door was locked because she had to sleep back there because they put her out because of what they wouldn't fix. People are being sent letters like this one below claiming that they all so sent one to the front office of the building,but they never recieve one. The highrise is Chatham Apartment is for mental health patient and Tideland Mental health was once in the back of it.You have to have a disability to get into the highrises in Savannah. They no longer have Tideland Mental Health ,but the State of Georgia has come up with 44 Medical Art as for mental health connected to Gateway Mental Health. Candler Historical Hospital on Abercorn and Hall Street now Chatham Apartment proerties is owned by Inman Park Properties of Savannah. In the letter you will see another owner. People are being sent similar letters and being put out because of it.

Dear Angela Chaderton

Based on the Housing Quality Standards inspection which was conducted at least 21 days ago, the unit at 609 Abercorn St did not meet Housing Quality Standards criteria.

A letter was mailed to you and to Chatham Apartments #2
listing the failed items have not been repaired. Therefore, as stated in the letter, Housing Assistance Payments have been terminated as of May 31, 2007, and the HAP payment contract will terminate 30 days later. The tenant is not responsible for HAP payment during this time. If repairs are made and the unit passes inspection prior to the termination of the HAP Contract, payments can be made as of the pass date. Previous payment will not be reimbursed; and, if a Voucher has been issued, you will not be required to remain in the unit.

If you would like to remain on the Section 8 program, you will have to find and move to another unit. You must contract your case manager to be issued a Voucher and to be given the Request for Tenancy Approval. Failure to contact your case manager within 10 days from the date of this letter will result in termination of your assistance.

If you disagree with this decision, you may request a hearing. If a hearing is desired, you must submit a written request to this ofice within 10 days of the date of this letter or your right to a hearing will be waived.
